Even in uncertain times, long-term investing pays off

An article by Christa Janjic-Marti, Head of Executive Management Foundations 3a & TVBF, Tellco Investment Foundation

Although the global economy in recent years has been shaped by crises, geopolitical tensions, changes in interest rate policy, and further economic uncertainties, long-term investments in pension provision remain one of the most reliable strategies for building wealth.

To enable our clients to benefit from long-term growth potential, we offer one of the largest investment universes in Switzerland for Pillar 3a and the vested benefits account – with funds often available only to institutional investors, as well as our own Tellco strategy funds. This gives private individuals access to a high-quality offering that enables diversified investment across different asset classes, regions, and sectors.

No perfect entry point – every contribution countst

Especially for investments in personal pension provision, the following applies: there is no perfect moment to invest. What is more important is to start at all – even with smaller amounts. Through regular deposits, market fluctuations can be balanced out over time (cost-average effect), which reduces the risk of entering during unfavourable market phases.

Performance that convinces

Even in volatile market phases, investments in securities can be worthwhile. This is shown by our strategy funds:

  • The Tellco Classic Strategy Fund 45 achieved a return of +1.77% in the first seven months of 2025.

  • The pure equity fund Tellco Classic Strategy Fund 100 rose by +4.52% over the same period.

The long-term picture is even clearer: over the past ten years, our clients achieved an average of +3.4% per year with the Strategy Fund 45, and as much as +5.2% per year with the Strategy Fund 100.

These results demonstrate that a broadly diversified investment strategy – combined with a long-term investment horizon – can deliver attractive returns even in challenging times.

Why investing is more than just generating returns

Those who invest in securities also participate indirectly in the development of companies. When things go well, their share prices rise, and investors additionally benefit from dividends or interest payments. But investing means far more than merely hoping for short-term price gains: it means believing in the innovative power and adaptability of companies.

Companies are accustomed to continually adapting to new economic, political, or technological conditions. Not all pass this test of change, but many develop new products, optimise supply chains, or open up new markets – often precisely in challenging times.

That is why at the Tellco Vested Benefits Foundation and the Tellco Pension Solutions 3a Foundation, we rely on broadly diversified funds. This allows our clients to invest today in the potential winners of tomorrow. This broad positioning ensures that investments also prove their worth over the long term.
