Tellco Investment Foundation aims to become climate neutral by 2050

Since 2005, the Tellco Investment Foundation has been offering tailor-made investment solutions for Swiss pension schemes – with a focus on Swiss residential properties and commercial real estate. With over 100 properties, our real estate investment groups can make an important contribution to achieving the net zero target by 2050. This means causing no net CO2 emissions.

On 26 March 2025, the Foundation Board decided how this reduction should be achieved in the coming years. Specific reduction pathways have been defined, which describe how much CO2 should be saved over time.

Targets for 2030: Significantly lower CO2 emissions

The Tellco Investment Foundation has two different property groups, each with concrete interim targets:

  • Residential properties: By 2030, CO2 emissions are to be reduced by over 40% to 10.3 kg CO2-equivalent per m².
  • Commercial properties: Here, we are aiming for a reduction of almost 60% by 2030, to 11.9 kg CO2-equivalent per m².

The reduction in greenhouse gases will be achieved through consistent energy-efficient refurbishment and optimisation of the real estate portfolio.

The calculations and reduction pathways were developed in collaboration with Wüest Partner.

The Scopes explained briefly

The different “scopes” describe where the CO2 emissions originate:

  • Scope 1: Direct emissions, e.g. from heating systems that burn oil or gas.

  • Scope 2: Indirect emissions from purchased energy, such as electricity or district heating.

  • Scope 3.3: Emissions arising during the production of construction materials.

  • Scope 3.13: Emissions caused by services or other indirect processes.
